Soviet  clone of German CARL ZEISS SONNAR 2/85, with its distinct bokeh, smooth step-less aperture control with 15 blades.
Jupiter-9 M39 lens is one of the most desirable Russian lenses in both m42 and Leica (39 mm) mounts. Impressive portrait lens is a copy of pre-war Carl Zeiss Sonnar 85mm f/2. It produces very pleasant images (portraits in particular), and you can control depth-of-field with a wide range of aperture settings.
Originally produced for m39 Leica thread mount rangefinders, nowadays successfully used via adapters on mirrorless cameras like Sony NEX, Olympus Pen, Panasonic G, Canon EOS M, Nikon 1, FujiFilm X-mount etc.
Aperture stops are set continuously, without clicks, which is great for videographers.
The 15 curved blades form round opening throughout the whole range, resulting in smooth pleasing bokeh(out of focus part of image).

This Jupiter-9 is m39 LTM mount lens, adapters will be required to use this lens on modern cameras:
NEX adapter – for Sony NEX E mount cameras
Fuji X adapter – for FujiFilm X-mount cameras
Micro 4/3 adapter – for Panasonic G, Olympus Pen etc
Leica M adapter – for Leica M-mount cameras
Note: This rangefinder lens will not work on (D)SLR cameras due to different flange distance, m42 lenses are recommended instead for Nikons, Canons, Pentax etc.
The lens s/n 7500317 is in very good to excellent condition.
Few signs of use/age on lens barrel.
Glass is clean and clear, no fungus, no haze.
Few micro scratches from wiping in front / few dust particles are also present but will not affect image quality.
Mechanics are good: focus is uniform whole range, although somewhat tight.
Aperture blades are with some clear oil on them(will not affect functionality as it is manual aperture lens)
Comes with both rear and front lens caps, in it’s bakelite case.
