ФЭД-2 / FED-2 rangefinder camera with Industar-26M 2.8/50 lens
MADE IN USSR!
The classic Soviet Leica-thread rangefinder, made in Kharkiv in 1960.
The FED-2 was built by the FED works in Kharkiv from 1955 to 1970. Compared with the earlier Leica-style FEDs it has a removable back for easy loading, a combined rangefinder/viewfinder window with dioptre adjustment, and a long 67 mm rangefinder base for accurate focusing.
This example is a FED-2 type D (sovietcams version PE0440/PE0445): the standardized shutter speed sequence, self-timer, flash sync and the old-style full “ИНДУСТАР-26М” lens engraving. The body serial 0917164 carries FED’s date prefix “0”, which means it was made in 1960. The lens is the M39 (LTM) screw-mount Industar-26M 2.8/50 and fits any Leica-thread rangefinder.
